VAL DE ZAFAN GREENWAY (with the enlargement Puebla de Híjar and Natural Park of Ebro Delta)

The origins of the Val de Zafan go back to the end of XIX Century when start the project of link Puebla de Híjar and La Ràpita by rail looking for to connect Aragon with the Mediterranean sea.
Two line closures, unfinished sections and the great Battle of the Ebro during the civil war are just some of the episodes that write and explain the history of the Val de Zafan railway, direct testimony of a convulsive period in the mid-twentieth century in this territory.
It was not until 1973, with the closure of Tunnel 28, that the dreams of the railway were buried and caused its abandonment and progressive oblivion.
Nowadays with the old railway line reconverted to Greenway and Natural path, its moment to write new stories. And what better than with a bicycle!
