The Massís dels Ports is a territory with a rugged and wild geography that has been the scene of an infinite number of histories. Dinosaurs dominated these lands millions of years ago. Remains of some of them can be found in the museums of Morella and Penaroja de Tastavins.
Ramon Cabrera, ‘El Tigre del Maestrat’ (The Tiger of Maestrat), became a legend going trhough the Ports leaving a trail of blood behind.
The Maquis took refuge in these wild lands after the Spanish civil war.
Lands of hard rural life but with charming medieval villages that, nowadays, have turned the region of Matarranya into the so-called ‘Spanish Tuscany’ due to its similar landscapes.
Ancient pathways. Paths that tell stories. They are The 3 Kingdoms and its Tossal del Rei that links everything.
